Preparing for Color on the Creek
Dozens of volunteers came out Saturday morning to prepare for the planting of Color on the Creek, a project started in 2013 that fills the waters of downtown Frederick’s Carroll Creek Linear Park with about 4,000 plants in 450 containers and extends well over a quarter-mile. Some of the volunteers wore waders to walk the creek to locate the steel stands where the pots holding the plants will be placed in the first week of June. In addition to providing brilliant color to the creek, the plants help preserve the water quality. For details or to volunteer to help plant, visit coloronthecreek.com.
